Wee Margaret leaves Australia - TAKE 2

We didnt get much sleep that night as we had to ring the airport in the morning at 7.30am to find out the new flight time.

We finally found out that the flight would be leaving at 2.30pm that day, so as Maureen had the day off, she was ready to go to the airport with Wee Margaret by taxi (thanks to a voucher from the airline) and I was to meet them there.

When I got into work that morning, I went to the ailine office (which thankfully is in the next street) and found out that she was actually booked on that nights flight at 11.59pm (a day later than the original flight) and not on the 2.30pm flight that day. As Maureen and Wee Margaret were about to leave for the airport for the earlier flight we were raelly confused. I managed to confirm that she WAS on the night flight, but it may not leave until 1.30am.

By this stage I was so tired, I went hoem to get a few hours sleep as it looked like it would be a LONG night.

We checked the internet a few times during the day and finally found out that teh flight was going to leave at 3.20am. None of us could work out what we should do. Do we all have a sleep in the afternoon? Do we go to the Gold Coast for the afternoon to find the backapck with the kangaroo that Anna wanted ? or do we all sit around like limp rags and watch TV and drink gallons of tea ? I thought the last option sounded best so we did that. No-one wanted to eat, so we didnt.

I ended up lying down on my bed and setting the alarm for mignight. At midnight we put the thermos in the car (as nothing would be open at the airport and we might need lots of tea to get us through the long wait) and set of once again for Brisbane Airport.

We arrived early and discovered that all the other passengers who had been put off the flight the night before had been put on the 2.30pm flight that day. Go figure...

There were not many passengers standing around the airport and only a few visitors (I think they had all refussed to come back a second time. last nights goodbyw would have to do.)

Finally at 2.30pm, Wee Margaret's plane was ready and they took her downstairs to the customes area and then onto the plane.

We were very relieved when we saw the flight take off.

(I followed her flights on the internet and found out that her flight from Kuala Lumpur to London was late arriving in London. val and I spent an hour chacking the airline websites and ringing Heathrow and Kuala Lumpur Airport and discovered that she had to get a later flight to Glasgow, but finally arrived in Glasgow)

Wee Margaret leaves Australia

Wee Margaret was due to leave Australia at 11.59pm on 31st March on a Malaysian Airlines flight via Kuala Lumpur.

I had the week before off work to make sure that she had seen everything (and everyone) she could before she left Australia.

Due to being stung (again) by a wee beastie, she had not been feeling well for the final week, so on the Saturday Maureen and I decided that she would have to "get out of the house and take a few photos to show that she had seen a few things while she was here".

On Saturday we went to see Richard and Margaret at Carindale in the afternoon. The visit was interesting as we apparently drove too fast through the complex when we entered and had the caretakers wife chase us through the complex on a golf cart yelling at us. I am glad I was not on my own as I think I would have given her a piece of my mind as she would not accept my apology and carried on yelling like a woman on speed.... I ended up telling her to "shut up and go away" and I drove to Richard and Margaret's unit thinking "she is going to yell at the wrong person one day and get a black eye".

In the afternoon, we visited Joe and his wife Jeanette at Coorparoo and it was lovely.

In the evening we went to dinner with Elaine and Dennis at Crushers as we had been their with Jimmy so often for dinner it was a very good place to a final dinner with Wee Margaret.

On Sunday, we went to visit Mattie and Eric at Kallangur and Wee Jock (their dog) was very happy to see us all.

On Monday, Maureen and I went to work so Wee Margaret could put the final touch to her packing boxes and have a nap before her long flight that night.

At 9pm we arrived at the airport ready for Wee Margaret's flight. We were told to take her to the airline desk at 11.45pm so they coudl take her down to the customs hall. T 11.35pm, we were pushing her wheelchair around to the desk when I noticed that the flight departure time had been changed to CANCELLED.

When we got to the desk w2e found out that a part for the plane had to be replaced and that the flight would not be leaving until the next day !!!

It took us nearly an hour to get Wee Margaret's suitcase back and we all went home to wait till the following morning to find out when her flight would be leaving.
